Opsi 1: Visa on Arrival (VOA)

Basic Info:

Cost: Rp500rb (di airport)
Duration: 30 hari
Extension: Yes, 1x untuk 30 hari lagi (total 60 hari)
Who qualify: 90+ negara (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, dll TIDAK)

Process:

Di Airport:

1. Turun dari pesawat
2. Cari counter "Visa on Arrival" (sebelum immigration)
3. Bayar Rp500rb (cash atau card)
4. Dapat sticker di passport
5. Ke immigration counter
6. Stamp, selesai

Time: 15-30 menit (tergantung queue)

Extension Process:

2 minggu sebelum expire:

1. Pergi ke Immigration Office (Jimbaran, Bali)
2. Bawa: Passport, flight out proof, hotel booking
3. Apply extension
4. Bayar: Rp500rb
5. Dapat 30 hari extra

Total: 60 hari possible dengan VOA

Pros:

• Easy
• Cheap (Rp1 juta total untuk 60 hari)
• Can apply di airport

Cons:

• Maximum 60 hari
• Harus pergi immigration office untuk extension
• Tidak bisa convert ke visa lain

Basic Info:

Cost: Rp7-9 juta (lewat agent)
Duration: 60 hari initially
Extension: 4x extension (30 hari each) = total 6 bulan
Type: Single entry

Full Cost Breakdown:

• Application: Rp2,5 juta
• Extension 1: Rp1,5 juta
• Extension 2: Rp1,5 juta
• Extension 3: Rp1,5 juta
• Extension 4: Rp1,5 juta
• Agent fee: Rp500rb-1 juta

Total 6 bulan: Rp8,5-9,5 juta

Process:

Step 1: Sebelum Arrive (2-3 minggu before)

1. Contact visa agent
2. Submit documents:
   • Passport scan (min 18 bulan valid)
   • Photo 4x6 red background
   • Flight details
   • Indonesia address
3. Agent process sponsorship letter
4. Dapat approval code (telex visa)

Step 2: Di Airport

1. Show telex visa di immigration
2. Get stamp 60 hari

2. You give passport

Opsi 3: B211A Social-Cultural Visa

Basic Info:

Cost: Rp7-8,5 juta (lewat agent)
Duration: 60 hari initially
Extension: 5x extension (30 hari each) = total 7 bulan possible
Type: Single entry

Different dari Business Visa:

Same process, tapi:

• Purpose: "Social cultural activities"
• Sponsorship: Cultural organization (bukan company)
• Can extend 5x (bukan 4x)
• Total: 7 bulan (bukan 6 bulan)
• Cost similar

Actual Reality:

Both B211A (business dan social-cultural) treated sama.

Most digital nomad pakai ini because:

• No work permit needed (you work for overseas company)
• Extensions smooth
• Immigration tidak ribet

Grey Area Explanation:

Technically: You're not allowed to "work" di Indonesia.

Reality: Remote work untuk overseas company is tolerated.

Key: Don't work for Indonesian company. Don't earn rupiah income.

KITAS Types:

4A: Employment KITAS

Requirement:

• Job offer dari Indonesian company
• Company sponsor

4B: Investment KITAS

Requirement:

Best for: Entrepreneur, business owner

4C: Spouse/Dependent KITAS

Requirement:

• Married to Indonesian citizen

4D: Retirement KITAS

Requirement:

• Age 55+

KITAS Benefits:

Opsi 5: KITAP (Permanent Stay)

Basic Info:

Requirement: Hold KITAS continuously 5 tahun
Cost: Rp50-60 juta (one time)
Duration: Lifetime (dengan caveats)

KITAP Benefits:

• Permanent residence
• Tidak perlu renew yearly
• Can work anywhere
• Can start business easy
• Closest to citizenship (tapi bukan citizen)

Reality Check:

KITAP sounds good but:

• Require 5 tahun KITAS first (Rp75-100 juta spent)
• Then Rp50-60 juta untuk KITAP
• Still bukan citizen (no vote, no Indonesian passport)
• Revocable kalau you commit serious crime atau tidak report annually

Few expat actually get KITAP.

Most just renew KITAS yearly - lebih flexible.

Common Mistakes & How to Avoid

Mistake 1: Overstay

Penalty: Rp1 juta/hari

Example:

• Visa expire June 1
• You leave June 10
• Overstay: 9 hari
• Denda: Rp9 juta

Di airport immigration, you must pay before can leave.

Avoid: Set reminder 2 minggu before expire. Extend atau book flight out.

Mistake 2: Use Visa Agent yang Scam

Red flags:

• Price terlalu murah (B211A under Rp6 juta = suspicious)
• Tidak kasih receipt
• Komunikasi poor
• Promise impossible things ("guaranteed approval in 3 days")

Safe agents:

• Registered with ITKI (Indonesian Tour Guide Association)
• Clear pricing
• Reviews verifiable
• Office physical

Mistake 3: Work on Tourist Visa

Technically illegal.

Reality: Remote work for overseas company rarely enforced.

Risky: Working for Indonesian company, earning rupiah, no work permit.

Safe approach: B211A visa + work remote untuk overseas company.

Mistake 4: Tidak Extend Di Waktunya

Extension must apply 2 minggu before expire.

Kalau apply 3 hari before expire:

• Immigration bisa reject
• Told to leave immediately
• No appeal

Always: Apply 2-3 minggu before expire.

Mistake 5: Wrong Visa Type

Common:

• Use VOA untuk 3-month stay (impossible, max 60 days)
• Use B211A untuk working di Indonesian company (wrong, need KITAS)

• Stay 1-2 malam: Rp1-1,5 juta
• Food: Rp500rb
• Total: Rp3-4,5 juta

Bali → Kuala Lumpur → Bali:

• Flight: Rp1,2-2 juta return
• Stay: Rp800rb-1,2 juta
• Total: Rp2-3,2 juta

Bali → Jakarta → Bali:

• Domestic flight: Rp1-1,5 juta return
• But doesn't count as "exit" for visa purpose
• ❌ Don't do this

Visa Run Tips:

• Book 1-2 malam minimum
• Keep boarding pass, hotel receipt (proof kalau immigration tanya)
• New B211A application process sama
• Can re-enter Indonesia immediately
